No, this is not a post about my tipsy episodes at various bars around the globe. Although, I bet some wish it was. Rather, I want to introduce a new segment to my travel site.
The amount of great travel posts out there can be daunting to keep track of weekly. My main problem is keeping up with these travel posts, re-tweeting them, and giving those great ones the love and attention they deserve.
If you follow me on twitter, you may notice I sometimes ask people to send me some post of theirs that needs a little tender loving care. I promise to stumble (Stumbleupon) the post and review it. I honestly read every piece sent to me when I make the call on twitter. The ones I truly enjoy, I try to comment. Not only do I get to read great travel pieces I have missed throughout the week, but I also have a chance at increasing others’ traffic, giving those little or big travel guys or gals some notice for their hard earned writing.
Rather than just tweeting once a week and getting a few responses, I thought I would incorporate my travel stumbling onto my site. Many travel writers do a weekly round up of posts they enjoyed throughout the week. This generally brings in some traffic to those lucky selected ones, but I wanted to go one step further.
Every Monday, I will put up a post called “Suzy Stumbles Over Travel”. I will describe a few of my favorite travel pieces I stumbled from last week. Here is where you step into the picture. At the end of each post of my stumbling round up, I will ask travel writers or just readers that have seen a post they enjoyed that week to leave a comment with their favorite and best post of the week. In other words, you can submit something from your own personal travel site or a post from any other travel site. Please keep it to one link per comment and person. Also, leave the link in the comment box rather than sending it to me via twitter, etc. The deadline to submit your post will be every Saturday.
Over the course of the week, I will stumble, review, and try to comment on all of these posts that are submitted. The cycle will continue and I will post my 5 favorites every Monday that were brought to my attention last week. I suggest subscribing to my stumbles and following me on twitter to see if your post is getting my promised attention.
Come stumble around and let me draw attention to those drunken posts, those that get on top of the bar or stage for attention but never get noticed.
Great idea, helping people help people spreading the love 😉 I haven’t even made it half way through my reading list today and already swamped at work. Let me read up and get back to you on this weeks fav!
Hey Suzie!
I’m glad you realized your idea. Looking forward to see what posts you will select.
David
Suzy, here’s a blog post for ya … great for anyone planning to visit the Southwest: http://bit.ly/cNPHBZ
Great concept Suzy – I love this kind of a feature. Between Pam and her Blog Crawls, Chris’s Travel Blogger Friday and this, it’s great exposure – for the writers and the readers.
I may have to steal the idea, then totally screw it up to be unrecognizable. 🙂
Good way to evolve your travel blogger philanthropy!
Awesome idea, Suzy. Especially for those of us still learning Stumble. Show us the ways. And can’t wait to read your picks!
Interesting idea, be neat to see it in action.
While I’m new to the travel community, I’m looking forward to your Stumbles (I subscribed to your blog and Stumbleupon as well). <3
What a great idea! Now I just have to figure out StumbleUpon (it’s on my to-do list for this week) and I’ll have a much better idea of what you’re talking about 🙂
Hey, love the idea! Could you consider stumbling our latest post called “How we Saved Enough Money to Travel the World”. http://su.pr/2x9PxA
We’re heading off on an around the world trip 60 days from now… We’re so excited!
Thank you for the opportunity! Here is one of my favorites…Great American road trips: 5 of the best spring vacation ideas 2010 http://tinyurl.com/yfbevm9
Will look for the favorites.
Hi Suzy! Such a great idea to spread the travel love. I think I’ll write about this in my Travel Bites of the Week to get the word out about this.
Again, a great idea, Suzy. This will be fun!
Hi Suzy, feel free to send any stumbles my way as well.
Hmmm…a novel idea! I like it. It’s sort of already working (albeit not in its intended manner) as I have already checked out Wandering Justin up above to see what he had to say about the southwest! Keep up the good work 😉 Should you decide to stumble my way it’s http://www.travelfunnytravellight.blogspot.com. Enjoy!
Hi Suzy,
I’ve just started following you on Twitter and saw your tweet. Would it be OK for me to submit a post? I’m UK blogger planning a round the world trip with my husband and three children, we leave in November. This is a post about a previous trip to Delhi…http://itsasmallworldafterallfamily.wordpress.com/2010/02/24/flight/
Here’s another post that I feel has been neglected! LOL. My weekend trip to Death Valley National Park! http://su.pr/2OObVa
The video I put together from the trip is here: http://su.pr/1DYBFk
Enjoy! 😉
Love the idea! That is kind of what we were going after with doing our webisodes, so everyones info is easier to find on a specific topic! Anyway, good luck and can’t wait to see your picks!
Here’s one I like: http://bit.ly/8m8u92
What a wonderful idea!
Great idea Suzy!
Are you also interested in sites for travelers? One of my friends started http://www.tripping.com, which is a social network for travelers who want to meet locals. It’s totally free and a cool site, so you may want to check it out. Looking forward to reading about your other favorites!
We’d love for you to watch our webisode on Animals of Australia! Thanks!

It is not a cool story but a fun contest.
Also, I’d love to submit my latest post for this week’s Stumble post (since you’ve gotten me addicted to StumbleUpon now!): http://www.cestchristine.com/2010/04/how-traveling-cured-a-picky-eater/
Again, what a great idea!
Great idea to pool together resources to build traffic, Suzy. Here’s an adventure for your consideration: http://www.adventurocity.com/articles/nepal/20-up-the-creek-without-the-toilet-tent
Hi again, Suzy! Here’s one that hasn’t gotten much attention this week (to my surprise, actually – I thought it might hit some nerves.) http://bit.ly/bu9eT1
I really think this is a unique idea of yours. I like it!
I’ll agree with everyone above – terrific idea. What a philanthropic thing to do!
