Pangong Tso, India Wishes You Were Here

July 23, 2010 By Suzy

This week’s “Wish You Were Here” photo comes from Abhijit Gupta of The Corny Traveler’s Chronicles.

Located at a height of about 4350 m (14,270 ft) in the Himalayas of the Ladakh region of India, Pangong Tso is famous for its clear blue waters and is known to change colors according to the time of the day and the weather conditions. It also acts as a breeding ground for a variety of migratory birds. It can be reached after a 5-hour drive from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, after crossing Chang La, the third highest pass in the world.

About Suzy Guese

After a childhood of keeping road trips interesting around the U.S, stints in Western Europe as an angsty teen and a study abroad year in Italy in college, I decided to make traveling and writing my way of living. My travels are laced with hints of a redheaded temperament, proof that my hair color is indeed natural. SuzyGuese.com is where I solve packing predicaments, blurt out my travel secrets, rant about nomad injustices and share where the road takes me in hopes that it might take you there too.
