Travel Book Giveaway: Ultimate Adventures Rough Guide

June 2, 2010 By Suzy

As I set out on my travel adventure to Italy on Tuesday, I reasoned it was a good time to get readers thinking about going on their own travel adventures. HostelBookers is supplying me with a book giveaway as part of my first contest. The company that boasts the lowest price guaranteed and 8.7% cheaper than HostelWorld, is giving me a Ultimate Adventures Rough Guide to give to one reader. The Rough Guide to Adventure Travel features 30 different adventure sections. Priced at a whopping $24.99 originally, this contest may be the biggest in travel site history. In all seriousness, who doesn’t Continue Reading

Are You A Travel Cheater?

June 1, 2010 By Suzy

When traveling, you may encounter a few cheaters, but not in the traditional sense. Well, there are those too, but I’m talking about those travelers that stay committed to one place. They set up camp in one city for 3 months, 6 months, a year, or 10 years. These travelers settle into one location. Many fall in love with a place and never leave. They become experts about that one destination. Twenty-Something Travel recently wrote a post about revisiting the same place or trying out new locations. Stephanie mentions the schools of both ideas. Do you head to a place you already know and love or Continue Reading

Another week of “Suzy Stumbles Over Travel” begins. The goal of this segment is to bring to light those posts you may have missed throughout the week, while promoting other writers' efforts. Here is how it works. Leave a comment in the box below with your Continue Reading

Colorado Wishes You Were Here

May 28, 2010 By Suzy

This week, I had the honor of guest posting for Anja of Ever The Nomad. I would greatly appreciate if you could read, comment and/or stumble that post, The Devil Made Me Do It.  I ended up taking a hike, so to speak, for this piece. Devil’s Head positions in Pike National Forest, a little over an hour south of Denver. The hike itself is not intense, but the view at the top certainly is. A lone fire station hovers on the top of this rock formation that supposedly looks like the head of a devil. I will have a video coming up soon of the hike, but here is just a taste of Colorado’s devilish Continue Reading

Traveling With Full Passion, Easier Said Than Done

May 26, 2010 By Suzy

Exactly one year ago on June 8th, I boarded a flight to Rome, Italy. This June 8th, I will board a flight to Rome. No, I am not some weirdly superstitious person that can only fly to Rome on June 8th. It all happened by coincidence, except this time, I hope and know, my mindset, goals, and experiences will be the antithesis of before. I often refrain from getting too personal on this site. I do not think everyone wants to know what I ate for breakfast or what my middle name is. If you do, drop me an email. I would be happy to shell out the dirty details on what falls in my cereal bowl. I Continue Reading

Keeping Your Sanity On An Airplane

May 24, 2010 By Suzy

I look out the tiny airplane window. I see lightning make contact with the ground every few minutes. The pint sized plane makes a screeching stop as we prepare to charge the inevitable. Lifting into the air, a thunderstorm is looming, hence the rapid departure. The turbulence warrants clutches to the armrest. Finally everything quiets down, or so I think. The man behind me begins attacking the seat pocket in front of him, also known as the back of my chair. As I receive an unexpected and unwarranted back massage, he appears to be searching for buried treasure left behind from the previous Continue Reading

About Suzy Guese

After a childhood of keeping road trips interesting around the U.S, stints in Western Europe as an angsty teen and a study abroad year in Italy in college, I decided to make traveling and writing my way of living. My travels are laced with hints of a redheaded temperament, proof that my hair color is indeed natural. SuzyGuese.com is where I solve packing predicaments, blurt out my travel secrets, rant about nomad injustices and share where the road takes me in hopes that it might take you there too.
