With just two days left here in Ireland, I am off to soak up all of the castles, countryside and pints I can before leaving. In the meantime, I bring you this week’s Suzy Stumbles Over Travel. In case you are new here, each week I ask writers and readers to share their favorite travel posts of the week. I read each submission, comment, post the article on Twitter, stumble the piece using Stumbleupon and place a link to the post on my Facebook page. The follow week, I select my five favorites to be featured here and the stumbling begins again.
Just a few things to keep in mind, you must leave a link to the article in the comment box below. You have until the end of the day on Friday wherever you are in the world to submit. Please only submit one link per person each week. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, subscribe to my stumbles on Stumbleupon and “like” me on Facebook to make sure I get to your post.
The 5 Favorites of Last Week
“Ascending the Beast: What Our Volcán Villarrica Climb Reminded Me About Life” From Inspiring Travellers
Submitted by Andrea
Inspiring Travellers make the long climb up Volcán Villarrica in Chile. Apart for gorgeous photography from their experience, their climb brings out those life lessons from keeping in simple to moving on from the jerks. While I’m not sure I could make the climb, sliding down the side of the volcano did look appealing.
“Exploring Las Vegas’ Neon Boneyard” From Travelin’ The Globe
Submitted by Alison
I had never heard of Las Vegas’ Neon Boneyard, where all of those iconic neon signs that make up Sin City go to rest. This post highlights something that is unique to Las Vegas that doesn’t involve gambling and drinking. Some of the signs are their own works of art and seemingly well worth visiting Las Vegas for even if you don’t like gambling.
“Pizzas of America Road Trip” From Travels in the Riel World
Submitted by Bob
Now here is a road trip I can get behind. Bob journeys from New York to Philadelphia, doing the dirty work of trying out classic American pizza institutions. If you are not from the USA or just are in need of a road trip, it is pretty remarkable just how different American pizza can be from one city to the next.
“The African Tribe…Maasai” From My Walkabout
Submitted by Billy
Billy spends some time with the Maasai tribe while in Kenya. From how the Maasai greet foreigners to tribal rituals, the experience seems to be one of those “once in a lifetime” moments. The photography presented also highlights those special moments, such as a subtle handshake with the oldest man in the tribe to the Maasai’s knack for jumping.
“How Traveling Improves Your Quality of Life” From A View To A Thrill
Submitted by Alouise
Never leaving home can be fine for some people. However Renee points out all of the ways travel improves life. Even just a simple two-week trip can open your eyes to stereotypes and cultural divides you had never considered.
Don’t forget to leave a comment here with your submission for this week. You have until the end of the day on Friday to submit.

My submission for next time: here’s a step-by-step run down of how I created my own voluntourism placement in Bhutan when there was no pre-existing program that suited me. A long read and not many pretty pictures but someone may find it helpful!
