As I wonder where July is going, I bring you this week’s Suzy Stumbles Over Travel. Each week I ask writers and readers to submit their favorite travel posts of the week. I read each submission, comment, tweet the article on Twitter, stumble it using Stumbleupon and place a link to the post on my Facebook page. The goal is to promote your work that might not have gotten the attention you think it deserved. The following week I select my five favorites to be featured here and the stumbling begins into the next week.
Just a few things to keep in mind, please only submit one post per person each week. Your article must be travel related. You have until the end of the day on Friday to submit. If you submit your article on Saturday or Sunday, I will just carry it over into next week’s submissions. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, subscribe to my stumbles on Stumbleupon and “like” me on Facebook to make sure I give your piece the attention it deserves.
The 5 Favorites of Last Week
“Doubtful Sound: Milford Sound’s Underrated Little Brother” From A Dangerous Business
Submitted by Amanda
If you have any doubts about visiting Doubtful Sound on New Zealand’s South Island instead of its will known fjord Milford Sound, Amanda will convince you otherwise. She finds a more isolated and powerful experience while cruising Doubtful Sound. I appreciated Amanda’s ability to dig a little deeper and find a place not over-run with tourists and articles of praise.
“Day 186: Hanging Out With Countrymen Abroad, Why Not Stay Home? My Extended Response” From Brooke vs. The World
Submitted by Brooke
Brooke receives a comment about socializing with her fellow Americans abroad, one that spurs a reaction questioning whether it is right, wrong or no one’s business if you like to find your own countrymen or women abroad. Brooke argues the benefits of known a few of your fellow citizens but points out there is no right way to travel.
“Traveling Ted’s Friendly Float Down the Chicago River with Leinenkugel’s” From Traveling Ted
Submitted by Ted
Ted takes a friendly float down to the Chicago River with the goal of educating those on the trip about the state of that very river. Ted points out the problems with the Chicago River, including the admittance of untreated sewage into the river waters, the only city in the U.S. to do so.
“Volcano Boarding in Leon: The Most Fun I Never Had” From Travel Funny Travel Light
Submitted by Claire
Claire decides to board down the youngest volcano in Nicaragua, a decision she is not fully confident to make. After seeing what the volcano did to other boarders, Claire takes it grandma slow. I admired her courage to go through with it, even it is was at a super slow speed. Travel should bring out this courage, even if we only do something halfway.
“I Could Have Had a Heart Attack!” From Wayward Traveller
Submitted by Annie
Annie gives us a lesson on Porto’s ultimate sandwich, the Francesinha. Having had this beast of a meal myself in Portugal, I can attest to Annie’s opinions of nearly facing a heart attack post meal. The Francesinha is just one of those cultural experiences you shouldn’t miss while in Porto.
Don’t forget to leave your submission for this week. You have until the end of the day on Friday to submit.

Since you asked for more submissions this week, here’s one from the archives. You already read my post about the art in Santa Maria Novella in Florence; this one provides travelers to Florence some context behind the wonderful Brancacci Chapel frescoes.
