In case you are new here, each week I ask writers and readers to submit their favorite travel post of the week. I read, comment, tweet (using Twitter), stumble (using Stumbleupon) and place the post on my Facebook page. The following Monday, I select five favorites submitted last week to be featured below and the stumbling continues into the next week.
Just some rules to keep in mind, you can submit one post each week, leaving a link in the comment box below. The post must be travel related. You must submit the post by the end of the day on Friday. Links left after Friday will not be considered. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, subscribe to my stumbles on Stumbleupon and “like” me on Facebook to see your post receive all of that attention. Before you do, don’t forget to read the top 5 travel posts below submitted last week.
The 5 Favorites of Last Week
“Moving Abroad: How I Failed” From The Life That Broke
Submitted by Lauren
Lauren reveals some of the mistakes she made when moving abroad. From lack of funds to selecting the wrong apartment, I think every traveler can relate to some of her mistakes. Travel involves a great deal of reflection, even if you have to recognize what you did wrong.
“5 Ways to Fund Your Travels Around The World Online” From Backpacking Matt
Submitted by Matt
Matt gives 5 different ways you can make money online and travel at the same time. I wanted to include this post as I get this question all the time. It is possible to never work in an office and travel the world and Matt lends some ways of making that happen.
“A Purpose Driven (Travel) Life” From Budget Travel Intentions
Submitted by Jeremy
Jeremy takes on a topic you might have to wrap your brain around a few times. He looks at traveling for personal fulfillment or purpose. In the end, it seems to be a balance, no matter how big or small, of purpose and fulfillment.
“One Per Trip—Favorite Travel Photos From 2010” From The Carey Adventures
Submitted by Peter
Peter shares one favorite travel photo from each of his trips over the last year. Not only are the photos great for travel inspiration, but they are incredibly fascinating, from an electric storm in Nepal to concentration in action.
“Falling in Love With Granada….Again” From Christine In Spain
Submitted by Christine
Christine revisits Granada, Spain and shares just some of the many reasons she loves the city, from the history around every turn of the corner to the free tapas. After flipping through Christine’s photos and reading a detailed account of the city, you too may find yourself falling in love with Granada.
Don’t forget to leave a comment below to your favorite travel post of this week. Remember, you have until the end of the day on Friday to leave your pick for the week.

I love Lauren’s post – written with such humility but also humour. It’s nice to see a balance sometimes – not all travel writing is meant to be dreaming and positive.
