As I get over the fact that it is August already, I bring you this week’s Suzy Stumbles Over Travel. In case you are new here, each week I ask writers and readers to submit their favorite travel posts of the week. I read each submission, comment, tweet the article on Twitter, stumble the piece on Stumbleupon and I place a link to the post on my Facebook page. The following Monday, I select my five favorites submitted throughout the week to be featured here. The routine continues each week.
Just a few things to keep in mind, please only submit one post per person each week. Your submission must be travel related. Leave a link to your post in the comment box below. You have until the end of the day on Friday to submit. If you submit after Friday, I will just carry it over into the next week of submissions. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, subscribe to my stumbles on Stumbleupon and “like” me on Facebook to make sure I give your article the attention it deserves.
The 5 Favorites of Last Week
“What I Dislike About Paris” From Weekend in Paris
Submitted by Priscilla
There are bound to be aspects to your favorite place that bother you after a time. Priscilla shares some of the things about Paris that bother her. I appreciated her honesty for too often our favorite places are never looked at in a negative light. Even Paris has its flaws for the traveler.
“Life in Poison Garden” From Inspiring Travelers
Submitted by Andrea
Inspiring Travellers make their way to the Blarney Castle Gardens, specifically the Poison Garden. Really a garden unlike any other, the piece presents the different poisonous plants the garden contains and why. Sometimes right around such a touristy attraction you can find a place incredibly unique.
“Czech Out Kutná Hora!” From The Gypsy Nester
Submitted by The Gypsy Nester
The Gypsy Nester provides an overview of visiting the town of Kutná Hora in the Czech Republic. From the town’s architecture to its claims of being home to the real Budweiser, the picture perfect Kutná Hora will certainly spark some interest for visiting.
“Access Denied—El Salvador Border” From Trans-Americas Journey
Submitted by Trans-Americas Journey
After careful research and planning, Trans-Americas Journey meets a brick wall when crossing into El Salvador. Their experience provides a lesson on the CA-4 visa regulations in place throughout Central America and how spotty its enforcement can be. Many countries and continents put a limit on how long tourists can stay, calling into question just how arbitrary and limited these days can be.
“Volunteering Gone WAAAYYY Wrong and 10 Trips to Avoid a Bad Volunteer Experience” From Lash World Tour
Submitted by Lash
Lash honestly reveals her experience at a WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) host farm in Florida. Her experience lends those considering WWOOFing some advice on what they should be careful of in such volunteer positions.
Don’t forget to leave your submission for this week. You have until the end of the day on Friday to submit.

Hi Suzy!
This week I was inspired by @adventurouskate to write about Around the World Travel – the places I won’t go and my bucket list. I am curious what others think and hope it’s taken with the tongue and cheek attitude I wrote it in!
Here’s this weeks submission to your awesome stumble: http://wp.me/pLv7o-w4
Cheers,
Priscilla

Hi Suzy, thanks for including my WWOOF story this week! I really appreciate you helping me spread the word and tips to potential volunteers, so they’ll avoid bad times like mine and instead have great WWOOF experiences- like I’ve had in Australia. cheers, lash

This is a couple weeks old, but since I didn’t submit it before, figured I might as well now. 🙂

Hi, Suzy! We featured what we call a “travel yarn” on our site a few weeks ago, and it seemed to do quite well. We’d of course love it if the piece could get an even wider readership.
It’s written by a guest blogger, Joy Richards, an Englishwoman who lives in North Yorkshire and travels whenever she can.
Joy tells the story of her recent trip to Fez, Morocco, to visit a former work colleague, who is making a life for herself and her daughter in this ancient walled city.
It was Joy’s first trip to Morocco and to an Arab country. After some initial misgivings, she decided to go with the flow — and found quite a few things she liked, along with other aspects of the life that worried her.
The post, called “How foreign is Fez?” is in two parts — not sure how you handle that?
Part 1: http://thedisplacednation.com/2011/07/22/how-foreign-is-fez-a-travel-yarn-in-two-parts-part-1/
Part 2: http://thedisplacednation.com/2011/07/26/how-foreign-is-fez-a-travel-yarn-in-two-parts-part-2/
Thanks in advance for your consideration!
