I remember telling my cousin that we're on a dead end and I don't really imagine that the place was Sagres. We spent most of our visit at Praia do Tonel to catch huge waves and enjoy cheap beer. My cousin and I are both travel surfers and overall, Sagres is a fantastic place to visit!

Sagres is one of my favorite places in a all of Europe. And in a busy and touristy Algarve, it is a welcome relief. It is so peaceful walking out by those cliffs.

And I agree, traveling helps us to appreciate how important home is.

Really interesting post. I think it's not just a question of physical place but of semantics. Home is such a loaded term and can mean so many different things for each person but it's the idea of feeling at peace with yourself somewhere, even if it's not the place in which you grew up but rather a place where you eventually settled. Sure, we all have to start from a base, but does that have to necessarily be "HOME"?

Thanks for another great post!

I enjoyed Sagres when I was there in 2009. We clambered down onto a beach where surfers were braving the frigid water. We created a game of beach bocci ball using large rocks and lines drawn into the sand. It was a good day.

Is there a shared definition of home? Home, to me, is a set of common and known routines involving familiar people and places. Everybody has a home and we always take parts of it with us as we travel.
